KwaZulu-Natal police commissioner Lieutenant General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi has found himself at odds with Labour unions after suggesting that unions’ demands for wage increases have resulted in a decline in government workforce numbers. Speaking at a stakeholder engagement on crime prevention with Premier Thami Ntuli and Mkhwanazi stated that unions were making it difficult to hire additional staff, demanding higher salaries for workers.
