[Watch] South Africa’s stagnant economic growth and persistent structural issues have led to a jobs bloodbath in various sectors, made worse by the increasing exit of multinational companies out of South Africa. Companies including Goodyear Tyres, ArcelorMittal and Murray and Roberts are shutting down, leading to massive job losses. Ford is also implementing retrenchments with about 500 jobs on the line. Employment and Labour Minister Nomakosazana Meth says this is a cause for concern, saying the imposed US Tariffs have made matters worse. The Minister has urged companies in need of support to reach out to her department for assistance.
